Kazmortransflot reports 17.4% decrease in oil transportation in Q1 – Interfax

NUR-SULTAN. April 22 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) – In January – March 2020 National Marine Shipping Company Kazmortransflot (KMTF) transported 2.359 million tonnes, or a dicrease of 17.4% year-on-year (497,000 tonnes), the company told Interfax-Kazakhstan in a statement.
In the same period 2019 the company transported 2.856 million tonnes.
In the reporting period 168,000 tonnes of oil were transported through the Caspian Sea, or down 9.2%, including 105,000 tonnes from the Aktau seaport to Russia’s Makhachkala sea port; oil transportation in the open seas (Black and Mediterranean Seas) dropped 17.8% year-on-year (480,000 tonnes) to 2.191 million tonnes.
The company fleet consists of 8 oil tankers, 4 main tugboats and 8 barges to support offshore operations, as well as 3 vessels and 3 tugboats to participate in the Tengizchevroil’s Future Growth Project.
KMTF is wholly owned by National Company KazMunaiGas.
